As a iOS power user, there are countless nuances of Apple’s mobile operating system that I love and couldn’t live without. It always surprises me how few people know about these iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch features, and how much they’d benefit from a quick lesson, so here goes…

SEARCH
Believe it or not, there’s a search function built right into iOS that will search for apps, songs, notes, contacts, emails and even perform off-device searches via Wikipedia or a web search (likely using Google). Searching for that new Adobe app and don’t know where it is? Trying to find that email where somebody mentioned Krazy Glue? Hankering to crank up some ABBA? iOS’s search functionality is your new best friend. Access it by swiping to the screen to the left of your device’s home screen, and there it is.
ACCENTS
Need to type an accented character because you’re blogging about Mötley Crüe, scheduling something mañana, 0r emailing about your new fiancé?
NOTIFICATION PULLDOWN
APPLICATION SWITCHER
Always surprising to me is few people know about the iOS Application Switcher. Just a double-tap of the one button
FOUR-FINGER SWIPE
Want to easily switch between recently opened apps on our iPad? Give the four-finger swipe a try to the left or right to access other active applications.
FIVE FINGER PINCH TO CLOSE
In an app and any to quickly get back to the home screen? A five-finger pinch will close the app you’re usi and go back to the home screen.
DOUBLE TAP FOR PERIOD–SPACE
Here’s a tip that’ll save you time with ever sentence you type. Need a period at the end of a sentence? Just hit the spacebar twice at the end of the sentence, and there’s your period and the (SINGLE!!) space you need between sentences.
